Introducing Mr. Modem

We're excited to introduce you to Mr. Modem. We'll be featuring his column each month in Bits & Bytes. Check out his December column that features some questions and answers, and a special article that give us some online holiday shopping tips. Here’s a little bit about him.

Richard Sherman, AKA Mr. Modem, is an author, syndicated columnist and technological humorist.

President of Get-the-Net, Inc., Sherman is the creator and publisher of the popular, online computer and Internet help service (www.MrModem.com) and weekly subscription newsletter Ask Mr. Modem.  He is the online computer expert for GE Capital’s Internet-based Center for Financial Learning and serves as a member of its Advisory Board.

As a member of the National Speakers Association, he has presented more than 500 “Bringing Cyberspace Down to Earth” seminars and keynote addresses. He has appeared on approximately 300 radio and TV talk shows, and hosts the Mr. Modem Minute segment produced by FOX-TV. In addition, he co-hosts the weekly PC Chat computer radio show.

A nationally syndicated columnist, his Ask Mr. Modem! column appears in more than 90 publications throughout the U.S. and Canada. As publisher of the Ask Mr. Modem weekly newsletter, his vast knowledge of the Internet and computers, coupled with his unique sense of humor, help provide easy-to-understand, non-technical, computer and Internet answers to questions received from readers worldwide.

As "Mr. Modem," Sherman is a featured columnist in Smart Computing magazine and the financial publication, Making Bread magazine.  His Mr. Modem's Desktop column  provides readers with geekspeak-free computer and Internet tips, Web site profiles, virus and hoax alerts, news and related information.

Among his eight books is his latest, Ask Mr. Modem!, 2nd Edition, a collection of answers to hundreds of frequently asked computer and Internet questions.  Mr. Modem’s Internet Guide for Seniors was named Internet Book of the Year by the Independent Publishers Association and heralded by ABC Radio personality Paul Harvey as “the book that takes the gobbledygook out of computers.”

An Internet pioneer, Sherman first ventured onto the Internet in 1988, and as “Mr. Modem,” has been providing an online helping hand to millions of computer users worldwide ever since.
