1) Monthly Meetings are Changing

Our General Meeting in January will take place at the Largo Cultural Center:

Map to Largo Cultural Center

Our new venue has an interesting feature: they'll be selling Latte at their concession stand for a half-hour before the meeting and during the break.  That's different - will they have a wine list later on in the year?

Our January meeting will feature Dave Gussow and John Torro from the St. Pete Times.  Dave is the editor of the Tech Times that appears Monday inside of the Business Times, and John is the writer of the popular "Solutions" column.  They are among our club's most popular speakers.

This is the 3rd year in a row that we have been lucky enough to have a visit from them.  While our meetings are always open to the public, we make a special effort to invite other local user groups to this meeting so that they can drop by and get acquainted.

Door Prizes & Giveaways

Normally, we have problems having enough drawing items for prizes at our meetings.  For a change, we already have enough items to take care of us during the coming year.  The Board has also decided to change the way our drawings are held each month in order to inject a little more fun into the process.  Come on out and enjoy the fun.

We'll have a copy of Windows XP Professional Version to award at the January meeting.  I say "award" because I understand that I can't say "raffle".  Hmmm, okay.  We sometimes exchange some drawing tickets for your hard-earned portraits of George Washington (we're art lovers at TBCS).  Then we have someone draw one of those tickets, and we have an awards ceremony for the person with whom we exchanged the drawn ticket and we give them some software.  This month the software happens to be WinXP.

2) SIG Stuff

Our SIGs (Special Interest Groups) all meet at our Resource Center (map: http://www.tampa-bay.org/maps.htm).
All of our SIGs are free to our members.

SIGs are a great place to get more personalized attention, and get your questions answered. The following SIGs will meet this week:

Monday, January 6, 6:30-8pm
