The Tampa Bay Computer Society is a premier Clearwater training center providing over 50 technology-related learning events each month — and most of them are free! All of our events take place at our Resource Center (map).
SIGs (Special Interest Groups)
Our Special Interest Groups or SIGs meet either weekly or monthly. SIG leaders volunteer their time to lead sessions in a variety of subjects: Microsoft products: Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Plus Linux, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Digital Photography, Genealogy, Visual Basic, Digital Scrapbooking, and so much more – whew. SIGs are always free, and we invite non-members to drop in and visit during any SIG. Check our calendar for dates and times. See the complete list here.
These are different from SIGs mostly because they have a curriculum and they come to an end. SIGs are ongoing and relatively unstructured — the SIG leader is free to pick the topic for each meeting. We charge for most classes at TBCS. Many classes are as little as $5 per classroom hour. Windows 10, for instance, is an 8-hour class — it costs $5 x 8 hours = $40. Equivalent training will frequently cost several hundred dollars elsewhere. We are clearly an exceptional bargain when it comes to training. Occasionally a class will have a different fee structure – always check the class details.
Classes may be lecture style or hands-on. Our computer lab allows us to offer hands-on training in a variety of subjects.
See the list of current class offerings here.
We attract guest speakers who teach on a wide variety of subjects. Some of our past seminars topics:
- Free and Open Source Software
- Configuring a Router
- Facebook Strategies for Business
- Windows 10
- WordPress & SEO
