2025 Tech Predictions: The Year Everything Changes (Quietly)

Dec 10, 2025

What can we look forward to in the new year when it comes to tech? Here’s my take on what’s coming.

AI Gets Boring (In the Best Way)

AI won’t be as flashy anymore—it’ll be embedded everywhere, quietly doing real work inside the apps we use daily in offices and small businesses. Less hype, more substance.

Personal AI Becomes Reality

We’re going to see AI agents that actually know your preferences, schedule things for you, understand your writing style and workflows. It’s more assistant, less novelty—and that’s the key for 2025.

Goodbye Passwords (For Real This Time)

Passkeys, biometric authentication, and device-based security are finally pushing passwords toward extinction. And honestly, it’s about time. (What’s your favorite password? Mine is my phone number from Battle Creek, Michigan in the fifties!)

Operating Systems Blur Together

Windows, Mac, Linux—they’re all blending into the background. Why? Cloud apps and browser-based tools keep shrinking the importance of the underlying operating system. We’re all living on the internet now, renting our software instead of owning it.

AR Creeps Into Daily Life

Not full sci-fi glasses yet, but practical augmented reality for navigation, repair, shopping, and training is quietly arriving.

Quantum Computing Gets Serious

Still niche, but real-world pilot projects are finally emerging outside research labs. It’s no longer just a punchline.

Cybersecurity Becomes Personal

Identity protection and AI-driven scams are pushing security tools into consumer space. They’re out to get you—not just businesses. We’ll be spending a lot of time this year helping you avoid getting scammed, and trust me, they’re getting really good at it.

Remote Work Tech’s Second Wind

Better virtual collaboration tools are replacing awkward video calls (looking at you, Zoom) with more natural interactions. My daughter works remotely, and I’m seeing this evolution happen every day.

The Slow Tech Movement

Tech fatigue is real. More people are deliberately choosing simpler devices, fewer apps, and technology that respects our attention span.

I think it’s going to be a good year. Hope you’ll join us at the Tampa Bay Technology Center as we guide you through all of this. See you next Wednesday!
